PRODUCTION OF HAND-MADE RUGS
The warp and weft of KTS Rugs is cotton with the knots and pile being made of 100% Tibetan wool. The fine, pure Tibetan sheep wool is hand-washed, hand-spun, hand-dyed and hand-woven. The unique knotting style in Nepalese rugs gives lustre warmth softness and durability. This makes KTS rugs distinctive and different from Persian carpets. KTS rugs are woven mainly in two categories - 100 knots, and 60 knots. This means that the rugs are made of 100 knots, and 60 knots per square inch.

For example:

  • A typical rug of 3 X 6 feet in 60 knots per square inch will contain approximately 155,520 knots per rug, and takes about 6-12 weeks to weave.
  • A typical rug of 3 X 6 feet in 100 knots per square inch will contain approximately 259,200 knots per rug and takes about 12-18 weeks to weave.

100 knots rugs despite being denser, have a shorter pile than 60 knots rugs (though the pile of any Nepalese rug will be thicker than Persian carpets). Whether you should opt for a 60 knot or 100 knot rug depends on your personal preference and the features of the area in which you intend to place the rug. However, greater the number of knots, the more time and labour is required. Hence, the density of knots in a rug will influence the price of the rug. We do not recommend one over for the other as they each have their different characteristics and their charm.

If you feel our collections do not meet your requirement please let us know. We might be able to help and guide you to design your own personal customised rug.

If you have any queries please write to us via email at info@comolongmo.com. We will endeavour to write back to you with answers for your queries within 48 hours.
